Editors Note: Unfortunately, spring sports for so many of our athletes have been stopped due to the coronavirus outbreak. Here at provobulldogathletics.com (soon to be provobulldogs.com), we would still like to highlight some of our amazing student-athletes. PHS’s Sports and Entertainment Marketing students will be bringing you highlights and reports until we get back to school and back to normal life. Thanks for checking in on Provo High School’s source for all things extracurricular.
When did you start playing tennis and what made you want to do it?
I always liked sports but never really knew which sport I wanted to commit to during high school. I decided to give tennis a go my freshman year and I fell in love with it.
Unfortunately, this season is likely to end early. What were you looking forward to the most about this year before you heard it was probably going to be canceled?
I was really hoping to make this year the best. We had a deep team and some great players so I was excited to compete and hopefully make it to State like last year.
What are some of your goals after high school?
When everything settles down, I’m planning on serving a mission. After that, I’m going to attend BYU. As far as tennis, I would love to continue to play for fun and maybe do some coaching.
What will you miss the most about playing for Provo High?
I’m really going to miss my teammates, coaches, and the chance to have fun playing tennis with some of my best friends. Playing for Provo High has been awesome.
What’s your favorite memory of playing tennis at Provo?
The Saint George tournament is always pretty fun. My favorite memory was going undefeated in the regular season last year, and going to the state tournament with the rest of Varsity.
Who’s your favorite ATP player and why?
Rafael Nadal. He’s left-handed, uses Babolat, and has an amazing forehand. ¡Vamos Rafa!
